A photo, circa 1950's of Sacramento Municipal Utility District (better known as SMUD;) linemen installing new KPF brand "twister" power switches on a pole still on the ground. The KPF switch used a twisting motion hand operated from one lever on the side of the pole which could break all 3 phase wires at once by rotating the insulators. They were made in Stockton, California so these 3 KPF's were not far from home. Power utilities in California and the west coast were and are large users of the KPF switch. Also, Otter Tail Power Co. in the upper midwest is a large KPF user. Many line photos you see by David Dahle will verify that!
