Here are some insulators hunted by my insulator delivering postman. One day he stoped by with one of my most current shipment. Through my garage window I showed him what he and others had been delivering to me over the years. He's seen insulators before on poles along railroad tracks but didn't know they came in colors like the Honey Amber, Purples and Olive Amber insulators he saw while looking through the window. That was the start to this story and a continuation of another of my own. If you follow the pics I've posted here in the hunt and find album you'll recall CSX cut down some poles in my home down and I retrived a good number of the ones I had wanted after they did so. ( Follow this link [id=259099013] for the past story ). Anyhow, after a week of sharing my hobby with the postman he returned with these three Lynchburg 162's and a number of others and told me where he had found them. I accepted his gift but didn't share that I had passed on removing them from there crossarms myself. I cleaned most of the one he gave me in acid and returned one to him that had the Lynchburg logo at the top of the dome or a 030 if you prefer. He was very happy with my gift in return. After cleaning them I made a discovery about the center one in this pic myself. I saw some double or ghost embossing above the Lynchburgh. I could see well a N on the LYNCH side and R on the BURG side. I was puzzed how it could be a ghost embossing with the N being left of the L in LYNCH and the R just about straight up above the R of BURG. Finally I took out my price guide and discovered this insulator had a NEW YORK blotout on the front skirt and with a closer look at the rear side BROOKFIELD was blotted out. It is a 160 and the first I've seen. Wonder how may I passed up? The insulator on the right I believe is a EIN 100. It is an odd looking green. Could be sage aqua. I don't think it is sage green. (Please no emails about this color. My pics didn't get the color right.) Anyhow, the whole point of me posting this pic is that you never know how insulators will show up in you life if you keep the hobby a secret. I'm beyond worrying what someone may think of me for collecting these jewels. Some may think it a strange hobby but many I've run across think it is cool or very interesting. |
