The clock was now steadily marching towards late afternoon, and I had one more place to check out. I parked my truck, and took off on foot along the old grade. Another broken Denver came into view, but it was not purple. Sigh. Maybe the next one...then the kicker for the day! This being a 1901 grade, I did not expect to find any 1880s glass in the area. Especially a nice colored Brookfield! This, my friends, is the dome from an olive/yellow/chartreuse (hard to tell) green CD 126 blobtop! Whoopee! Where there is one, there are usually more. Thinking the piece may have been from the 1880s military line through the area, I left it so I could come back and GPS the location. I scratched around and feverishly covered the immediate area for any signs of the rest of the insulator. Nope. I continued on with high hopes until suppertime, then I called it quits for the day. As it so happened, this was the only day I got to spend hunting insulators, but the rest of the weekend was also well spent. Thanks for coming along on this pictorial "hunt", hope you enjoyed it! |
