Up for sale is a really neat Dominion 42 CD 154 in a nice dark straw colour. This one just recently came out of service here in Ontario. A number of poles were knocked down here in London, Ontario as part of a construction project, and I happened to be around when they were laying on the ground. I managed to find three of these metal-skirted Dominion pieces... the only three I have ever been fortunate enough to find in the wild! For those of you that don't know, these metal skirts were fitted over CD 154 style telegraph insulators in order to attempt to prevent them from sustaining any damage as a result of stone-throwing teenagers and such. These days, they are very difficult to find, as they were only ever used in very sparse numbers. Many are found so rusted that they are barely recognizable.

As mentioned, this one has the original copper tie, probably from sometime in the late 1920s when this one was likely installed. I can leave the tie wire on if you'd like, or I can easily remove it for you.

The tin skirt example is in good shape, though is fairly rusty all over. This is consistent with being up on the pole I recovered it from for well over 60 years before being taking out of the elements. There is some rusting of one of the tabs that holds the two skirts together, and there is a dent on the bottom edge of one of the metal pieces. The Dominion - 42 itself has a couple of sizable wire groove chips, probably from those same stone-pelting teenagers I mentioned before! There are two chips, one being about 1 1/2" long, and the other about 1" long, on the upper wire ridge of one side. The photo shows the larger of the chips facing frontwards. There are also a couple drip points that have the very tip nicked a bit.

All in all, this is a good character-filled example of this tough go-with. I'm asking $25.00 U.S. plus shipping for this example. I accept PayPal, and personal cheques or money orders from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me for more photos, or with any questions. I encourage you to look through my "For Sale (Not Sold)" stock, and combine items to save on shipping. All the best!
