3 cornflower Dominion-42's I got while looking through a small pile of railway tear-down. This guy called me and said he bought a house 15 years ago that was previously owned by a CPR employee, and that there was old railway junk piled all over the place around the yard. I counted only 9 crossarms. Most of the glass had been removed and was in a nearby pile. All the glass was green dominion-42's and hemingray 42's, covered in train soot. These 3 stood apart as a different color shade, but I wasn't sure if they were cornflower or not, they were so dirty. After a lye bath, they came out a beautiful cornflower, and 1 was mint! So, I think I will be unable to locate the previous owner because it was 15 years ago, but if the CPR in that area was a 3-arm line, then he took home the crossarms from only 3 pole spans. 3 cornflowers in 3 pole spans is probably worth trying to find out where he took them from, and if he knew anyone else who also took some home. They were so dirty that I'm sure they would have been missed by collectors while still in the air. |
