There were still some old poles around the town, but this was pretty much the best one, a couple Gisborne's. The power generated at the power plant is now fed into the grid. Sandon was a treasure-hunting frenzy during the bottle digging days of the 70's, so we didn't really expect to be pulling any glass out of the ground.
