I'm not sure of the date of the redesign of our YPCIC logo, but from the dates on my files, it is no later than September, 1993. The man on the pole could use a little refinement, and I happened to see a neat picture in a (I think...) Hemingray catalog. Of course, I can't put my fingers on it at the movement.

Here is the evolution.

1) The original logo is on the left

2) The second picture is the original image scanned in from the catalog. Yes, it was white on black. PhotoShop to the rescue!

3) Invert the colors so we have black on white artwork.

4) Flip the image around so the crossarms and the the lineman are in the same orientation as the original logo

5) Delete the top crossarm, so it has two crossarms like the original. Remove the wires. Lower the lineman slightly and move him a little further away from the pole so you can see him more clearly. Touch up a few lines on his body, and of course put an insulator in his hand. Add a little more grain to the wooden pole and crossarm, and there you have it!

I was quite surprised to find such a similar picture in a catalog. Although we weren't specifically looking to redraw the man, this was too good a chance to pass by... so I "seized the moment" and did it! You will also notice that the original scan from the catalog had a couple insulators already removed from the pins, just like the original logo! It almost looks like they copied our logo!! And the lineman even had a hat on, again like the original...

The revised drawing of the "pole cat" still retains a piece of insulator history, having originated from an original drawing from an insulator catalog.

I thought you might enjoy the transformation.

You can see the [id=270352799; original design of the logo] that Charlie Angevine did circa 1969. To this day, the remainder of the logo remains unchanged.

The original drawing was used to make our popular multicolor YPCIC patch that our club sells. Take a look:
