I had decided yesterday that since I was sick the previous 2 days, I really didn't much feel like making the 5 hour trek to Greenville Alabama to the Dixie Jewels swap meet. Really hated to miss the show, but I didn't want to get stuck so far away from home and then get sick again and have to suffer and not be able to fully enjoy it. But, I didn't want to waste such a beautiful day entirely, so I talked my brother Casey into heading back down near Greensboro to hunt a few more sections of the old Georgia railroad. Casey ended up making most of the finds, as I wore out pretty quickly around lunchtime, so he would hop out of the truck and run across the tracks just to take a peek and see what we he could find. Some portions yielded absolutely nothing, but other areas were loaded with goodies. I think we've just about exhausted the entire area, but there are a few more spots left we want to try in the future. All in all, we came home with about 100 whole insulators, mostly B beehives and clear Hemingrays, with a few oddballs like an H.G.Co beehive and a Brookfield CD 147 Spiral. One of the first finds of the day was this nice green Beehive. |
