Here is an originally unglazed example of a very clean Confederate teapot. From the history I know, these were produced by Southern Potteries in Kaolin, South Carolina during the Civil War. Many of these were found in a cache, unglazed with broken spouts. This example is one of those. The spout has been expertly reattached and the only other damage consists of a small 1/4" chip on the base as well as another chip (less than 1/4") on the wire groove. The photo shows both chips. This is a standout piece tied to plenty of history. I regret to sell this wonderful insulator but look forward to upgrade to a much scarcer insulator. I've reduced the price to $325 including shipping. Insurance, however, is your choice. If you are coming to the Yankee Polecat Show on March 21, I can deliver this for no charge. Thanks for looking. |
