Me and my brother Casey decided to see if we could find any glass along the old Southern Railroad near Ayersville Georgia. This old railroad is still in use today and runs from Washington DC all the way to Atlanta. The old lines were removed back in the late 1970's and my father had told both of us some stories of finding glass along this line back in those days. We found out there were 2 generations of poles along this line, the older being on the left of the track and the newer being on the right of the track. Both sets of poles are no longer in use. We both thought we wouldn't find anything or any remnants of glass or poles, but we were soon proven wrong. As soon as we started to walk, we started finding poles and insulators!! Our first find was this broken Hemingray 40!! |
