Up for grabs is this great, old Gisborn Pattern Canadian porcelain beehive. These were used somewhat commonly along Canadian Pacific lines across Canada, but a little known fact is that they tend to occur in a variety of markings, some of them being exceedingly uncommon. This is, as far as I know, one of those more uncommon markings. I have only ever encountered 2 Gisborne Pattern pieces with this unusual, loopy "comic-sans" looking font. Certainly an unusual piece, if you are interested in Canadian telegraph insulators. The condition of this piece is reasonable. There are some very light scratches on the dome top, and 4 pings on the skirt - one is on the side opposite the marking and measures about 1/4" in diametre, while the other 3 are all less than 1/8" in diametre, and only one is on the same side as the marking. There is also an impact "fan crack" on the base, just beneath the marking. This impact is not visible when displayed from the front. I'm asking $7.00 U.S. plus shipping for this tough marking variation. I accept PayPal, and personal cheques or money orders from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me for more photos, or with any questions. I encourage you to look through my "For Sale (Not Sold)" stock, and combine items to save on shipping. All the best! |
