Winter projects part one.... I found this damaged M-3250 no name, BJS Thomas last July in a dump dig with Paul Greaves ... Since the weather was nice then, I just set it aside and kept hunting ... now that I am trapped in the house waiting for the snow to melt, I am getting around to catching up on repairs... The top of this piece is as yellow as the sun with darker lower skirts . It still needs some finishing work and paint on the cracks but it is a strikingly beautiful porcelain insulator anyhow (and very rare too). In the absence of goodies to go hunting for do to bad weather, I am mining my storage unit for exciting repair projects. My friend "I am a Thomas guy" Mid Norris has been after one of these for a decade so it will be finding a new home with him as soon as I get it finished. I definitely agree with Pat Scot's philosophy of finding insulators for your friends when possible ! The one of a kind pin is also interesting as it is a special sub station pin designed to be used with the M-3250 in the early Niagara Lockport and Ontario Power Co substations. I am going to clean it up and add it to my personal collection to display my own M-3250 on . These insulators are a bit top heavy and this pin makes a nice solid display stand!. |
