Brookfield first made what we call the 102 "Pony" in 1878. In 1882 they moved to 45 Cliff Street and that address appeared on subsequently made units. The earliest do not bear the 55 Fulton address, but rather are only adorned with patent dates. This is one of those pieces. Usually faint embossing is quite bold on this one and just for fun, it looks as if this one bumped into something while still hot and soft, giving it an impressive dent into the base and lower skirt. A nice example even without the dent, this one has some added character to set it apart from the rest. No chips or cracks, just a few pecks and some wear on the wire ridges opposite the dent. A sweet example of this earliest of 102's. $10 + actual postage.
