Vasily sends his best wishes to ICON for a very Happy New Year. Belarus today is still dotted with the skeletons of bombed out buildings left over from WW2. In some places, buildings were considered worthy of re-construction, sometimes because of history. Some parts of Belarus were formerly Poland, but the maps of Europe were constantly changing, depending on who won, and who lost the wars. Also important was which countries aligned themselves with the winning side, or the losing side. As you can see, construction is almost complete on one half of the building. You have to wonder if the destruction was as complete as it is on the still un-restored half of the building. In the foreground is a pole with wiring, but I can't make out any insulator styles or types, but stay tuned, as the next picture has a surprise for you. |
