This is in response to James Bancroft's most recent Trains and Railroads photo. This photo was taken in September of 2006 looking north on the opposite side of the tracks. As you can see the contractor has already removed the power lines which were on the three porcelain cable tops. According to him that was the money maker on this project. At the time this picture was taken, the contractor was still pulling wire and taking down poles at Piketon, Ohio which is about 10-12 miles to the north. I believe his contract was to get to around Portsmouth which is 8-10 miles to the south. I never stayed in touch with the contractor so I don't know when he finished up.
