On a scarce non-rainy day in November along the Columbia River gorge our hiking club was doing a 7 miler on the Cape Horn Loop down river from Bonneville dam east of Portland, OR. The first picture is typical of the views along this beautiful trail. A section of trail parallels a set of transmission towers of the BPA on the Washington side of the Columbia. I was surprised to see that the insulators in service were all Pyrex carnival suspensions. Click through the series of photos to see a couple of different applications on this section of the line.
