I found the metal top version on the left in the utility dumpster, likely used in a substation or line switch. I was about to leave it but I thought that it looked 'familiar' altho it is not marked. When I got it home, I realized that it looked just like my Pittsburgh brown M-2611-A, shown on the right. I really wonder if that metal cap is just cemented on to a normal tie top like the one on the right. But I don't want to break it just to find out! ;) The Pittsburg version of M-2611-A is rather scarce and was not reported until I recently did so. Has a date stamp on the top. The O-B version is far more common, but most are unmarked. Notice the crack on the Pittsburg, which I superglued 20 years ago. Has been outdoors always and shows no weakness. |
