Some of these insulators are up for auction now at the E-place. The best B&O pictured ( the dirty one) is for sale here at Icon. Go to the For Sale file and find my name. I'm RogerP518 at eBay. Advance Search RogerP518 and you'll find all I'm selling there. Good luck if you bid! In the begining God created trees to make pole to hang insulators on. He was pleased! I was just as pleased the line men cut those poles down and I had spotted that one wasn't standing upright like it once had. Since then I have gone back to six locations where I knew there had been poles up with insulators still on their crossarms and pins. If you wish to see the last few hunts click here [id=259099013]. This pic is of three hunts on three different days. Below is what I found day by day. Day 1 - First location yeilded nothing. Did spot a couple greens or yellow greens on a high pole that was still standing. My second stop kept me from returning home empty hande. I grabed a couple CD 147's. One had Amber Swirls and the other had some nice sized bubbles low on the skirt. Besides these I came home with a CD 162.1 or two. I left behind some long toothed Hemingray-42's with broken drips and an American Behive that the skirt was broken off. May have kept that one if all the pieces were found. Day 2 - Went next to this abandoned factory where my Dad worked many years ago. There used to be two ot three high poles with lots of glass. They were no longer up and I don't know where the linemen may have put them. I suspect they buried them as they had build a brand new side track leading to a Propane Gas Company. When I was at this location some time way back, beyound the poles that still stood there were crossarms on their pole tops laying on the grond in high weeds and brush. Thought I had found everthing worth taking at that time. Can't beleive I missed a one of the Brookfield B&O's in this pic. It has a backwards for NY and also JAN. Think it's a 040. From this site I rode my motorcycle about another 15 miles north. It was extremely windy and I held on for dear life. When I arrived at my destination the CSX worker were right where I wanted to go. I was told by one once that I could hunt in this area if I parked out of the way of the service road. Today I just decided to just turn around and hang on to my handle bars firmly and go home. I was happy enough I had found the B&O with milk around the threads. Day 3 - I was determined to make my way back to the spot where the workers had been the day before. Before I left home I recalled another spot where I had hunted several times in the past. It was on the way to my intended destination anyhow. I debated whether I was going to. Again I'm glad I lost that arguement with myself. Couldn't believe I found yet another B&O. This one was even better then the one I found the day prior. It has a mess of amber stringers on the dome. One of those stringer comes down into the skirt just left of the B&O embossing. This insulator also has lots of bubble and is very fizzy. The embossing isn't the best on the crowns but readable. There are two joined 4's at the top of the front crown. I will be offering this piece for sale here at Icon's forsale alblum when I'm done here. The blue B&O I already started an auction for at the E-place. I made it to my final destination and took a few junk CD 147's, a CD 162 1nd 162.1 with amber swirls. It was a bit breezy today, but not half as bad as the day before. Maybe the wait in my bag helped to stablize me a bit more. |
