Southern RR Line Through Toccoa Georgia 2009

I posted a picture in the vintage folder of the Southern Railroad line which ran through Toccoa Georgia in 1908 and was built in the 1870's. The single line was abandoned in 1913 and replaced with a double track just a little north of this area, but remnants of it can still be seen here in our small town.

This picture is what the area looks like now, almost 100 years later. All the old growth forest that was originally cut down in 1908 has grown back quite a bit and you can just barely see the small mountain in the background.
