This wonderful little match safe is marked on top: Fort Wayne Electric Works. "Wood" System. I believe the shape represents an early transformer. The 'Wood' mentioned is for inventor James J. Wood who was a pioneer in the electrical field. He came to work for the Ft. Wayne Electric Corporation in 1890. This matchsafe stands 2 1/2" tall. This was formerly in the collection of Floyd and Ruth Kidder of Punta Gorda, FL.
