I went to an auction yesterday that listed a large collection of insulators on the flyer. Most of you are familar with this type of auction. There were about 25 boxes of insulators. Mostly common glass or porcelain. Mostly damaged. Mostly Hemingray number 42's, 40's, 9's and 16's, Whitall Tatum number 1's or common brown mud. I had gotten up at 0' dark thirty and had driven about 240 miles to get to the auction and I was tired when I got there. I had to wait around most of the morning in the hot sun and almost fell asleep while standing up. When they finally got to the insulators, the bidding was like a feeding frenzy and I let most of the insulators get away from me. I didn't have much of a chance against that herd of antique mall experts! I was left with just these three pieces. Oh, well. Maybe next time I can pick up some of those number 42's, 9's........... |
