This strange chunk, about the size of a softball, has a little bit of everything in it. It has rock, iron, brick and what looks like tiny flower petals or seed kernels which may be some type of crystal in the glass swirled throughout. At some places it forms starbursts that can't just be by chance. So many of the pieces found near the Covington Hemingray site seem to be remnants and by-products of the glass making process all mixed up with brick, rock, dirt, sand and who knows what else. I've found other pieces with the starburst and petal pattern but this one is the largest and contains the most. |
