So, of course the big question is: What are the insulators showing up in these pictures? A few weeks ago Brent made a comment urging research before a lot of time is spent hunting and digging. Good advice that I decided to follow. I took these three pictures today when I stopped at a small town library not too far from me. In 1902 an electric interurban line opened for business, connecting a number of towns and cities. It wasn't very long lived. In 1926 the company that owned the railroad went belly-up and the tracks were pulled up in 1927. All three of these pictures are taken in or around the town I stopped at today. The pictures aren't the greatest because they are photos of copies of photos, but they don't have the originals, so this is going to have to do. Please click to view the full size pic! I can't tell what these might be because my newbie-ness leaves me lacking in the other clues that might help identify them. Like, they look like they could be hoopies, but does that fit with the time frame and the typical application? I've seen some of you guys talk about what types of insulators you see in some of these old photos when to me they look like fuzzy blobs on fuzzy poles. So, what are some thoughts? Thanks in advance! |
