The rescued pole top and cross arms decked out with some different insulators. Many of these are actual Mountain States Power Co. insulators or types that they used. From the left there is a Victor M-2430, Locke M-2430, a Thomas M-2230, a Locke M-2137 (not MSP). The white "neutral" insulators are a NN-U-449 and a Locke U-784 Hi-top, two U-690A Westy bowl types and a U-284 Westinghouse signal, all common on MSP. The very red signal is unidentified but may also be off MSP lines. The pole is held up by a 1 inch all-thread rod driven in the ground and into a hole drilled in the pole bottom. It is held up by an NGK sky blue 2 skirter with a hole clear through it because of a broken top. This keeps the pole from rotting directly on the ground and I can't see the ugly hole in the top any more! On the hill, in the background stands the new pole that replaced this one...what fun! |
