The new pole was plopped into the hole in a few minutes and the crew is now backfilling the muddy, sticky clay back in the hole while the foreman is standing in the distance checking the pole for straight up with a plumb-bob. With all this modern mechanized process for setting a pole, the same old hand filling and tamping and line up process is unchanged since man first set poles in the earth! This is where the crew has to really earn their money!
