A close up of the old suspension disks on the 5 mile long 2 phase open Y line. I don't think I have ever seen this old type of trunnion before that is clamping the wires on this tight curve. These definately date back to the MSP 11kV days. Notice the splices and one insulator that is pulled out of line. Since this line goes "out to sea" on the Tillamook peninsula, it has been ravaged many time by storms and tree damage. The line just dead ends and has no back-up that I know of so when it's out, the power is out until it's fixed!
