An earlier view of 4th Street in "Downtown" Bay City, Oregon. Note that there is no pavement and the open wire telephone line in the last picture was not built yet. The electric poles of the Coast Power Co. are there and show some very early style transformers with "suicide" fuse cutouts. The power system is a type of 4 wire 2 phase system, long out of use by the 1930's. The town of Bay City is located 4 miles south of where I now live, here on the Oregon coast.
