Another neat, U.S. style that turns up along certain rail lines here in Ontario, these Pittsburgh High Voltage Porcelain Company-made U-149s & U-149As are certainly one of the nicest porcelain pieces around, in my opinion. The U-149s (such as the piece on the right) are notorious for being incredibly crude, as is evidenced by the awfully crude trimming job shown on this particular piece. The wire groove is crooked, and its depth varies around the insulator. The glaze is quite crude & mottled on both pieces, with the U-149A (on the left) has spotty glaze, with some unglazed areas on the dome-side.

The condition of both pieces is good. I can't see anything wrong with the piece on the right (save its obvious crudity), and the example on the left has just one flake, 5/16" tall by 1/4" wide, on one of its skirts.

I'm asking $11.00 U.S. plus shipping for this charmingly crude pair of Pittsburgh beehives. I accept PayPal, and personal cheques or money orders from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me for more photos, or with any questions. I encourage you to look through my "For Sale (Not Sold)" stock, and combine items to save on shipping. All the best!
