The Western Railway Museum is located between Fairfield and Rio Vista, California and here is a shot of an electric train near the outer end of their rail line. The museum trains are operated on a section of the original Sacramento Northern Interurban line that once ran between S.F. and Chico, in northern CA. They went to great length to exactly duplicate the original poles, overhead trolley power wire and the high voltage poles from original photos and prints. Notice that this power line is not wired nor has insulators yet. The power line is about 5 miles long. Also faithfully duplicated are the cross arm colors which were required on power lines by California code. Yellow for high voltage and red for low voltage. Nowdays, a high voltage sign on the arm will comply. To see another shot and the insulators they will use, click NEXT.
