While atop Pikes Peak (background), Katherine Lee Bates was inspired to begin writing a poem which would later become one of our favorite patriotic songs "America The Beautiful. Though not much purple (other than the insulators) shows in this photo, I've seen times when you would swear mother nature had used a purple loaded brush to color the view. I love the constant reminder as I look at the view out my front yard and I'm sure this song will be heard throughout the land today.
