The trolley line seen ran as far east as Scituate, MA 8 miles away (by the shore) and so did the open-wire telephone line that pararelled this route (now known as MA State Route 123). A major toll circuit also went easterly from this location to Scituate (no photos available) pararelling this roadway less than a mile to the south. It was a major toll route between Southern Massachusetts Telephone Company's office in Rockland (a few miles back, westerly) and Scituate. This 10-mile line was a legend for some reason. It was removed in the 1930s and insulators found in the woods from it were CD 104s, many having "hasp" no-tie-wire galvanized clips used around the insulator in lieu of tie wire for attachment (I have one from this line). |
