Available for your collection this morning is an absolute oldie, and a goodie. These Dwight Pattern 143s are known to go back to possibly as early as the early 1880s. An incredibly heavy and unusually-shaped style, they show their age well, if you ask me. These can often be found at threadless-era pole sites. This particular example has quite the unusual underpour if you want to call it that... I think the glass was simply manipulated somehow when it was still semi-molten. The base on one side actually tapers inwards, unlike the normal base for this particular DWIGHT mould, with the most unusual rounded base edge. So, this piece sits uneven on the table. I can't say I have seen too many like this one! It is the [050] embossing style with an obvious "G.N.W.' blotout, before DWIGHT. It is a fairly normal light aqua shade, but the glass does have a goodly number of small, milky-wisps or lines throughout it. The condition of the piece is good. There are 3 tiny fleabites on the rear crown. Two are likely smaller than 1/32", and one is about 1/8" in diametre. There is another 1/16" fleabite on the rear, just above the wire groove. There is also one fingernail crack, a very tiny one that likely isn't any more than 1/8" deep into the glass, one the front base. It measures about 1/4" long, and does not show up too easily. All in all the piece is in good shape for its age, and does display marvelously... though crooked. I am asking $10.00 U.S. plus shipping for this odd Dwight. I accept PayPal, and personal cheques or money orders from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. Please feel free to email me for more photos, or with any questions. I encourage you to look through my "For Sale (Not Sold)" stock, and combine items to save on shipping. All the best! |
