This rail line has had a power transmission line next to it for a century now. It originally fed the substations for the railway, now the line ties Puget Sound Energy's Wild Horse Wind Project near Vantage to the rest of their system. It also provides power for Snoqualmie Pass, Easton, Cle Elum, and a few other small towns along the way. Sections, like this one, have been upgraded to a 230 kV spec, but the line is still at 115 kV because a few sections haven't been upgraded yet.
