Back in the shop with it now arcing. Very hard to photograph the arc and is quite a thrill with the room totally dark. Weird Science! If you look close or go to 'View Original" the blue-purple arc is about 2-3 inches above the close point of the rods. The arc rarifies the air above it creating ozone and the arc rises on it's own because of this condition. It's a real power waster and the meter outside is running! I think that high school kids used to build these in science classes but that may have killed or burned enough of them to stop those projects. I have danger signs all around the contraption just to be safe. The transformer has a nice little pull chain on-off switch on it just like a light. What's next? Maybe a Tesla Coil ! !
