The Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Boston provided electric light and power service to its customers until it was purchased by Boston Edison in 1938. Here we see a vintage neighborhood scene depicting turn-of-the-century electric light distribution circuits typical of the Boston metro area a century ago. Note the two-wire open-wire service drop to a customer's home on the right with a bracket mounted on its clapboards.
