Here is the gentleman who made this very memorable event possible....Yankee Pole Cat Insulator Club (YPCIC) President.... John Rajpolt! The YPCIC annual show and sale was held at the American Legion Hall, 566 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT on Sunday March 29. It became a reality as a result of John's devotion, organization and hard work during previous months. Set-up began around 6:30 AM and the doors opened to the public at 8AM. Approximately 30 sales tables and two insulator displays adorned the hall until everything began to close shortly after 2PM. Insulator collectors from as far away as Canada and Great Britain attended as well as others from Texas, North Carolina and Maryland. Insulator enthusiasts representing most of the Northeastern United States filled out the remaining attendance which was described by many dealers as "excellent". The show was well publicized and brought in a steady walk-in crowd throughout the day despite the rainy weather. Free exposure to the general public via Craigslist listings within 200 miles of the show site very probably brought in a number of people who hadn't known that insulator collecting was an organized and established hobby. Among the nicer pieces from NM to mint condition which exchanged hands were: a CD 740 Fosters blackglass threadless; a cobalt blue Hemingray -19; a CD 263 Columbia; a CD 164.4 Fry in blackglass; a CD 126 Brookfield (crown embossed) in bright yellow-green; a CD 122 Mclaughlin-16 in citrine; and a CD 134 T-H.E. Co. in a nice yellow-green. Sales of less-expensive insulators (under $50 each) were reported by the sellers as most predominant. Many rare and seldom seen insulators were on display and for sale. See the following photos for details. The YPCIC holds their annual show and sale in the north-central CT vicinity each spring. This year's show site has remained the same for many years since it is convenient to I-91 and at a central location among the attendees. In addition, each year the Pole Cats host an informal meet and barbeque in July (in Milford, MA) and during early Fall at the home of Larry Emmons in East Hampton, CT. Be sure to attend!
