With spring on the way, young men start to think about...insulators! So off we went down the rail trail in search of buried treasure. We managed to pick up 4 intact insulators, spanning 4 different CD numbers, from a western Ohio stretch of railway that was abandoned in 1989 and converted to a bike trail during the last decade. We found CD 145, CD 152, CD 154 and CD 214, all made by Hemingray. These are all common insulators, but we couldn't just leave them lying out there, and the ones you rescue from the wild are better than the ones you buy any day. We found a nearly intact CD 147 and left its sad remains on the trail. Happy hunting! |
