Highway construction between Sumner and Puyallup in 1913. Shows one of the lines between electron and Tacoma. There is an idle 115 kV line is it's place today. The poles on the far left are those of the Union Pacific. The rail line is still there as well as the pole line (i think it was upgraded in the 40s because there are now only 2 crossarms an no pre 1940 insulators). At about this spot is now the overpass for State Route 167 north of the SR 410 interchange. The Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse is now located off to the right of the area photographed. The highway is still there, but is just a regular city street now. North of here, where it heads into Auburn, is still referred to as the West Valley highway (formerly SR 181). |
