You never can judge how far you have come until you see where you came from (or something like that). I chuckle when I see on Icon that a collector can`t find the shade of green listed, or the embossing isn`t exactly like those listed in the price guide. Here are three pioneer books that will show you what it was like to collect in the late 1960s and early 1970s. "800 Insulators priced and Illustrated" has an E, C. & M listed at $18! That was the first reference book I used when I started. That book was published in 1971. "An Insulator Book For Collectors" came out in 1968 and wasn`t all that bad. "Norman`s Insulators, 2nd edition" was a 1969 book. All 3 of these early books are in very good condition. It`s interesting to see how three authors arrived at the values of insulators with probably very limited sources of information. The set of three are yours for $12 and that includes the shipping. |
