This picture is a combo of 2 pics: The insulators are identical Armstrong No 2 CD 122, with one exception. The one on the left has a lemon yellow color to it.

My main question is what is best way to take pictures? ie outside in the sunlight (top photo) or inside with flash (bottom photo) or perhaps on a light stand/box or ?

My main purpose is to develop some sort of quality consistancy as I see MANY pictures on here that look like plain clear glass but are listed as yellow olive green or some such.

I personally use a Kodak EasyShare C340 that allows lens settings from closeups to telescope to night shots, flash, no flash etc

Also I use Printshop to put multiple pics into one as we seem to be able to post only one pic at a time. When you need to post 6 pics just to show what you're talking about it gets cumbersom. So I put the lemon yellow one on eBay where I can post multiple pics at once.

But again the main question here is What is the best picture taking techniques to use. What I see with the naked eye and what shows up in the pic can vary greatly as mentioned earlier (clear Vs color).

Sorry to ramble just another newbie trying to get it right LOL
