Westport is a small seashore community in southeastern Massachusetts. When this photograph was taken numerous adjacent communities (...and Westport, itself?) were served by the Southern Massachusetts Telephone Company. The latter served many communities in southeastern MA as well as some on Cape Cod including Provincetown. By 1938 the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company had absorbed all of their exchanges.
