The in-laws stepped into the DSL age last evening, so we rewired a few things in the basement. This had to go. It's an old porcelain Western Electric protector and fuse housing, with the porcelain cleat to hold the old drop wire to the joist before it terminated on the block. The house was built in the early 1940s, and this is probably just as old. $10.00 plus shipping. It's in good shape, just dusty and has some paint and coal soot on it. Take it apart, get some cleaner for the porcelain and some Brasso for the metal, maybe scrape off the paint, and it will probably look good as new. |
