While on my morning walk this morning at 7:25, I spotted this mature hawk standing guard around his domain searching for breakfast. I am 99% sure this is a Red Shouldered Hawk. He/she looks to be about 20 inches tall with a beautiful reddish breast. He is sitting atop an insulator so this qualifies as "insulator related" although I must admit I was paying more attention to the hawk than the insulator. No offense to the mud collectors out there. This Red Shouldered Hawk should be heading south for his winter vacation grounds in Central America pretty soon. Although still early fall here in Southwest Florida, it was a chilly 41 degrees F. unseasonably cool for this time of year. Normal for this part of Florida is 70's days and 60's nights.
