Some of these lines may still be in service. Others could have been paved over as streets or converted to biking trails in years past. Most likely the majority of these 1880s lines had telegraph lines alongside them. I thought this would be a handy insulator-hunting reference to anyone in CT or in closely neighboring states where the tracks are depicted here. Especially in then-remote/rural areas, obsolete insulators were often tossed aside along with everything else that was being upgraded. One wonders what neat glass awaits to be found in the soil along accessible lines here ;-) |
