A clear example why it is really important to search out and scout BOTH sides of old rail routes for remains of extinct telegraph lines. Sometimes telegraph competitors ran their lines on opposite sides of principal-route railway rights-of-way through around the 1920s or so. And it may not have been until that time when one side was left abandoned, sometimes with the poles still standing. In later years war scrap drives eliminated a lot of the old wire but not the poles and everything else they had upon them.
