On the left is some really early electric distribution. Note the square (or rectangular) transformers on the pole in the foreground. This city's brick or stone roadway is also graced by an open-wire telephone line along the extreme right side of this photo. One can only imagine the variety of West Coast-made insulators that once graced these open wire circuits!!
