I took this photo of a West Coast Telephone Co. 16 pin crossarm in local service near Tigard, OR. in 1956. They would tie the twisted pair house drop wires directly on to the wooden insulator pin or to a double groove insulator if one was handy, which was the intended purpose. Another West Coast pole with 16 pin arms is pictured in La Conner, Washington a little ways back in this album, posted by Joe Maurath. I say we should post all of the open wire pics that we can find, since we all like the use of insulators and it is now such a "Thing of the Past". |
