A 1937 Ford box truck owned by the West Coast Telephone Co. shown in Everett, Washington. Note the company logo on the door, a candlestick style telephone pictured against a seascape scene with the sun setting in the west. West Coast was part of one of the larger Independent telephone companies that dared to serve where the Bell System wouldn't go, or never went. This included many rural areas or suburban areas outside major cities in Washington, (in this case, Seattle) Oregon and Northern California. Another logo they used a little later than this was a 5 crossarm open wire pole on a corner inside a square with the company name in "speed" lettering on either side. West Coast was bought out by General Telephone in the 1960's and the territory is now part of Verizon's land line operations.
