As everyone knows, with train tracks comes coal, with coal comes clinkers and bedrock. I was picking rocks of interest while tracking and found this slate grey rock which split perfectly in my hand exposing this nicely fossilized fern leaf. I still have the other half tucked away in one of my moving boxes. Hard to believe that something as delicate as a fern leaf could be fossilized and frozen in time forever. Not all neat finds are insulators, even when you're looking for them....
