No, this isn't skies over Verdun in 1917, it is in western NC, in the early fall of 2008. One of my neighbors (a retired airline pilot) has a small collection of aircraft, including this home-built plane, with WWI german markings. It is a monoplane, and flies very slowly and quietly. There is a grass strip runway about a half mile away from my place down there.
